The Location of Justice

Urban Omnibus | 2017-18

A special year-long series on Urban Omnibus examined the pervasive infrastructure of criminal justice in New York and the spaces that could serve a more just city. Edited with Olivia Schwob

The Location of Justice explores the criminal justice system in the built environment: its institutional spaces (courts, prisons, and jails); its neighborhood policing (public spaces and precincts); and the logistics systems and regional geographies that organize it. Editorial features commissioned from writers, scholars, and artists include historical and analytical writing and reporting, documentary photography, video, diagrams, and projects and proposals for new spaces and systems.
